***Why are the Apple Health step values displayed in our Activity App dashboard different from what we retrieve from the Validic API?***

It’s possible that you are comparing the step value displayed in the Apple Watch Activity App or Apple Fitbness+ app available on your iPhone to the value in the Validic API instead of comparing to the step value available in the Apple Health App. The Activity App only displays data from the Apple Watch. While the Apple Health App displays an aggregate step value that combines phone and watch steps. The aggregate value is generated using a proprietary algorithm to de-duplicate multiple data points using the order of device priority indicated in the Apple Health app. The aggregate value from the Apple Health App is made available to the Validic SDKs.

More information about setting the priority of devices for the Apple Health App can be found [here](https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204351).
